Overview

Street 55 is a Qatari retailer selling premium baby-care and skincare products to families across Doha and the wider GCC. The catalog mixes Korean beauty brands, Western skincare staples and baby essentials. Most new customers arrive through WhatsApp forwards and repeat orders.

We built a WooCommerce storefront on WordPress with a custom-tuned theme, tiered coupon rules and WhatsApp-first customer support.

The challenge

The client wanted a storefront that felt as premium as the products on the shelf: not a stock Shopify theme, and not a page-builder site. It had to handle a 1,000-SKU catalog, local-currency checkout and frequent seasonal campaigns, all run day to day by a non-technical team.

Approach

WordPress and WooCommerce suited the brief. The team already knew the WP admin, the coupon engine is solid out of the box, and the plugin ecosystem covers payment gateways, shipping and stock alerts. The main risk with WooCommerce is theme bloat, so we tuned a minimal theme ourselves instead of using an off-the-shelf multi-purpose theme.

  • Custom-tuned theme with brand typography, product cards, checkout flow and a product page styled for skincare photography. No unused templates or demo content.
  • Catalog of 1,000+ SKUs organised by category and filterable by skin concern, life stage and brand, using WooCommerce's native taxonomies.
  • Tiered coupon rules in the native engine, such as "Spend QR 999, get a QR 150 voucher" and free sunscreen over QR 500. The retail team sets up campaigns without touching code.
  • Qatari Riyal native: currency, tax and shipping zones set Qatar-first, with a local payment processor instead of USD conversion.
  • WhatsApp-first support: a tap-to-chat button on every product page that pre-fills the product name and SKU, also wired into order confirmation emails.
  • Performance for phones on flaky 4G: WebP images, deferred non-critical scripts, and caching at WordPress and server level.
  • Newsletter signup connected to the team's existing email provider.

We built the storefront and integrations. Sourcing, pricing, fulfilment and WhatsApp support are the client's own operation.

Outcome

The store launched with 1,000+ SKUs, Riyal-native checkout, three tiered coupon rules and WhatsApp support built into the shopping flow. The client has kept the optional retainer for analytics, plugin updates and ongoing performance tuning.
