Overview

Sameeha Family Restaurant is a small family-run restaurant. The name has Arabic roots, meaning "generous, forgiving". The owner wanted a mark that felt warm and family-owned rather than like a chain, with a hint of that Arabic origin that still read easily on a shopfront or a printed card.

The challenge

This was a small, tightly scoped commission with two deliverables:

  • A primary wordmark that works on a sign above the door and at business-card size.
  • A circular icon for favicons, app tiles, profile avatars and menu stamps, where the full wordmark would be too small to read.

There was no brand book, stationery, menu or packaging in scope.

Approach

We drew "Sameeha" as a warm, slightly sloped script with diacritic-style dots, as a nod to the name's origin. "Family Restaurant" sits underneath in clean geometric caps, giving the lockup one loud voice and one quiet one.

The signature detail is a pair of dots, placed under the word in the wordmark and under the "S" in the monogram. They make the two marks read as one brand. Without them, the monogram would feel generic.

The mark uses one colour, a warm house orange, with no secondaries. We tested it on dark backgrounds, using a near-black business card mockup, because that was the contrast the owner cared about.

We delivered the primary wordmark and the circular "S" monogram as vectors, plus a business card mockup for the owner to share with family and staff before printing. The work was handled over WhatsApp in a couple of rounds.

Outcome

The project went from sketch to final vector files in 3 days. The client said: "They gave me one mark and one icon and they already match."
